RAYMOND, ME - October 9, 1996 - Tribune Broadcasting has signed an agreement for Dielectric to provide television equipment for its stations nationwide. Under the terms of the agreement Tribune Broadcasting will purchase antennas, transmission line, and RF components for DTV and NTSC from Dielectric Communications.
Tribune, based in Chicago, is one of the nation's largest group owners of television stations. Tribune owns and operates television stations in ten major markets, including: WPIX, New York City; KTLA, Los Angeles; WGN, Chicago; WPHL, Philadelphia; WLVI, Boston; WGNX, Atlanta; KHTV, Houston; KWGN, Denver; KSWB, San Diego; and WGNO, New Orleans. In addition, Tribune owns radio stations, newspapers (including the Chicago Tribune) and a variety of other media holdings.
Dielectric is a leader in antenna system design for digital technology and presently has contracts with 50 stations in 22 markets for DTV design studies. Dielectric has completed the DTV design study for San Francisco's Mount Sutro and is currently designing the DTV facility for World Trade Center in New York City.
Dielectric Communications equipment was utilized in the recently completed FCC Advanced Field Test conducted in Charlotte, NC.
