Proposed Digital TV (DTV) Channel Plan from FCC96-317
On August 14, 1996, in FCC Document 96-317, the Federal Communications Commission proposed a channel allotment plan for Digital TV (also called DTV or HDTV). The plan allocated one Digital TV (ATSC) channel for each existing full power NTSC TV allocation. This information was extracted directly from the WordPerfect version of the FCC's Sixth Further Notice Of Proposed Rule Making on
Advanced Television Systems and Their Impact upon the Existing Television Broadcast Service - FCC 96-317.
The DTV power levels are average power. Peak power will be at least five times as much. Refer to the column descriptions for an explanation of the data in each column. The original Broadcasters' Draft ATV Channel Plan is still available on this site for those that want to compare it with this current FCC plan.
